Hasten Home's Mission Statement:
To share Christ's redeeming, sanctifying love with the children through wholesome activities, loving interactions, and a positive example, and to equip the adults who have them in their care to do the same.
Another (blessed) early morning...
It was 2:30 am and I was at my computer again. Typing. And praying. My Bible and Ellen White’s Patriarchs and Prophets at my side, my dictionary and thesaurus within arm’s reach, my fingers were flying as I prayed for just the right words to touch the children’s hearts—and for the baby to sleep long enough to finish my story in uninterrupted silence.
I knew that my other three children—and even my husband—would be enthusiastically obliging to listen to my final proof read of this next lesson in the VBS—The Land of Milk & Honey series come morning.
The research and planning stages of preparing a new Vacation Bible School curriculum always seem almost unbearably long, but when the Lord starts to give me the stories, I know we are moving!
It was back in 2007 when my good friend and godly mentor Kathy first asked me to take the leading role in putting together a Vacation Bible School program for our little church.
I remember praying earnestly with her for the children of our valley.
She had been a Vacation Bible School leader for many years already, but was disappointed at the programs available out there.
We knew what we needed:
- A solid, Bible-based plan
- Stories, crafts, activities, and memory verses to fully support the lessons
- Biblical doctrines, such as salvation, the seventh-day Sabbath, and Christ’s Second Coming, in terms a child can understand
- Realistic illustrations
- True-to-life stories
- Underlying conservative Christian values, such as modesty, cooperation, and godly simplicity
Is this what you are looking for?
Hundreds of prayerful hours have gone into Hasten Home’s Vacation Bible School materials. Now we are ready to place them in your prayerful hands, too!
The technical stuff
Over the years, the Lord had blessed me with experience as a children’s tutor, nanny, Sabbath School leader—and certainly not least in my preparation, as a mom. He helped me persevere in sharpening my skills as an artist through Art Instruction Schools, when the challenges of being a young mother threatened to derail my dream.
I even graduated The California Nanny College with some very helpful information on childhood development. But I have no doubt that my greatest qualification is a firm reliance on God. He continues to draw me daily nearer to Him.
And I have no doubt that this same reliance in your life is what has brought you here to Hasten Home—and what is sure to make you beautifully successful in your children’s Vacation Bible School ministry!
Let’s Hasten Home together. Our God has had the future in mind all along!
In one of our first YouTube videos, I give you some tips on Vacation Bible School curriculum and share a bit of my story. You can watch it here: (At the end, when it says to go to HastenHome.com, don’t worry—you’re in the right place! 😉 )
Glad to meet you 🙂
My name is Sheila Edeliant. Today, I own and operate Hasten Home. So far, I have written and illustrated two complete Vacation Bible School curricula: VBS—Superstars for Jesus and VBS—The Land of Milk & Honey. (The first VBS materials I did were an incomplete set, which I plan to work on completing in the not-too-distant future.)
While Hasten Home is not affiliated with any denomination, I am personally a baptized Seventh-day Adventist Christian. Wondering about our beliefs? Check out my Beliefs page.
Please do keep in touch.
