It is a beautiful, sunny morning. A gentle breeze blows the worn baby sheet that has recently become my protection from the hot afternoon sun. My gaze goes right past the dusty haze of my double-pane window, which patiently awaits a ladder-equipped window washer; for the scampering of a joyful kitty running up the hill is a much more interesting sight.
Kitty finds himself a shady spot and nestles up to a stump—an odd reminder of the state of this earth, right in the midst of delicately blooming shrubs, flourishing oaks, and young fir trees.
The sprays of tiny flowers perched contentedly on the ends of their spindly branches wave lightly in the breeze.
Springtime has passed and summer is here—every passing hour makes the fact more evident. Songbirds whistle and sparrows click as the sound of Christian Berdahl singing praise to “El Shaddai” winds it way down the hall.
Outside my window is peace, but for many this moment is a struggle: a struggle for power, a struggle for peace or love, a struggle for life itself.
Soon the struggle will be forever over. The beautiful land of which the peek outside my window is only faintly reminiscent is awaiting its inhabitants. The earth as we know it is awaiting its ultimate washing. And we are awaiting our Saviour who promises to bring us to the Land of Milk and Honey.
“Heaven at last!” I can hardly wait to cry those words as I kneel at the feet of my Blessed Jesus. How about you? Let’s tell the children!
This is what VBS—The Land of Milk & Honey is all about. We want to let the children know about Jesus, our Loving Saviour. We want to teach them of His path of peace. We want to give them hope for now and for eternity!
Let’s Hasten Home, friends!
