Some time ago, I came across the concept of “Five Minute Friday”. The idea is to write for exactly five minutes on the topic of the week. It’s just for fun and there is “no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking”. Sounds tough enough for a natural perfectionist…
If you would like to see all the rules (there are only a few) and find out what the current topic is, just head over to The Gypsy Mama.
Anyway, with that introduction, I thought I would give it a try.
Today’s topic is “Real“.
Real is something I think about fairly often. There is so much in this world that is unreal. Real really matters.
God’s love is real, and I seek to share that with the world. Just one patient step at a time.
A real smile from a heart full of His joy.
A real hug from a heart full of His compassion.
A real tear for the real distress that too many children live with every day.
A real prayer that can make some real changes in a real child’s life.
Being real is not the same as being perfect. Being real is being honest. It is what lets people know you can be trusted.
Children need us to be real.
But being real does not mean we have to prove we’re not perfect, either. We are sinners in need of a merciful Saviour. BUT we are also saints, pressing on to higher ground.
Let the children know that prayer is an essential part of our lives. Be unashamed. That’s real.
Worship a real God! Really.
(Surprisingly, I’m happy with how that turned out! I may just have to try again next week…. If you would like to see one more “Real” post, check out For When You Dare to Risk Enough to Be Real at jacquewatkins.com.)
Hasten Home, friends!
