I have been thinking about favorites. My favorite Bible verse of all time is this: “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” (I John 3:18) I think the appeal of this verse has something to do with its endearing term of address and its simple significance. In any case, it has been my motto since my childhood, when I first wrote it out on a pink sheet of paper and decorated it with a simple, flowery border. The verse resided on my cork board for many, many years. Now it is written in similar style in the front cover of my Bible, as well as being permanently engrained on my heart.
I would love to hear what you think, too. Hearing about the Lord’s leading in other people’s lives is always helpful as I prepare Vacation Bible School materials for our children.
What is your favorite Bible verse? What makes it special to you?
