Where do you find your identity?

Identity: What makes you special? What makes you you?

It’s time for Five Minute Friday! Today’s topic is “Identity”.

Ready? Go:

Where do you find your identity? What makes you you?

All over the online world–Twitter, Facebook, blogs–and even offline, in such things as resumes and brief introductions, we are asked to identify ourselves in very brief snatches.

What makes you you? What makes me me?

I ponder the question from time to time.

Am I me because of my commitment to children’s ministry and Vacation Bible School? Am I me because I am a mom? Or an artist? Or a wife? Or…?

How about you?

Am I me because I am shy? Or brave? Or creative? Or uncertain?

How about you?

I like to think my real identity is found in Christ. I am His child. I am growing. And determined.

How about you?

Where do you find your identity?

Stop.

Tell me in the comments! 🙂

  1. I’ve thought a lot about these things too Sheila. Sometimes, even at this “grandmotherly age” I step back and wonder who I really am.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment on my blog. Because it’s supposed to be unedited, I hope I didn’t sound unloving in any way. That’s the point, I think, that we can be loving and caring and tolerant in the right way without having to compromise our core beliefs.

    • No, Linda. You came across as someone who was doing a lot of pondering. 🙂

You have a very important point. Thanks for commenting–I hope you’ll come again.

      ~Sheila 🙂
