Something for the children #41: “Honour thy father” Bible coloring page

"Honour thy father" coloring page

To print this Bible coloring page: click on the picture and it will open as a PDF file. (You will need Adobe Reader.) Then you can print it from there.

Hey, children! I have another Bible coloring page for you today. The verse on it says “Honour thy father….”

A commandment and a promise!

Did you know that “Honour thy father” is part of the Ten Commandments? The whole verse says, “Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”

It’s a commandment and a promise! How about that?

God wants us to be respectful and kind to the people that are older than us. That especially means our parents.

Even if you do not have your father with you for some reason, you probably have someone who takes care of you and helps you to make good decisions. Who can you think of? God wants to help you to honour that person.

“Honour thy father.” It’s what God wants you to do–and He will help you do it.

You may print out the Bible coloring page at the top of this post. When you have it all colored in, you may share it with your father, if you would like to. You could even write a special message at the bottom, like “I love you, Dad!”

Honour your father

Can you think of some ways to honour your father?

How about giving him a hug, like the children in our Bible coloring page?

Or, how about speaking kindly to him?

Or doing the things he asks you to do–right away?

Or saying nice things about him when you talk to other people?

What else can you think of?

Ask God right now to help you honour your father today! 🙂

    • Hi, Pamela. Thanks for stopping by! I am not sure I totally understand your question, but I am going to give it a shot.

Are you looking for a way to prepare a mini-VBS just for your own child? You could choose a set of related Bible stories that are familiar to you and pick out simple memory verses to go with them. If you know some memory verse songs, that’s all the better.

Try to remember what some of your favorite childhood crafts and games have been. Adapt those to work for you and your child.

Round up some Bible activity sheets and/or coloring pages (whatever you think would work best for your little one). There are several free ones that you may print out right here at Hasten Home (including this “Honour thy father” coloring page).

There are lots of tips, stories, and activity ideas on our blog, too. You might want to just spend some time browsing. 🙂

Whatever extra time you devote to bonding with your child and leading him/her to Jesus will be time well-spent for both of you! It will probably help if you set up a schedule of what you want to do each day, just as if you were leading a whole big group of children in Vacation Bible School activities. That will help to keep you motivated and help your child to feel like it is more of a special, planned time.

God bless you as you seek to lead your child to Him.

      Hope that helps.

      ~Sheila 🙂
