Did you know that the Bible tells us that we can learn from a tiny, tiny little creature… the ant? It says that we can learn from ants to be diligent. We have ants here and there in our yard. Have you seen ants in your yard?
You can watch them and see how they seem to never stop, but just keep on going, working hard together. That is a good example for us, isn’t it?
You can read some of the verses here. They are from the Bible book called “Proverbs.” (In case you haven’t heard this word before: a “sluggard” means someone who is lazy.)
Go to the ant, thou sluggard;
consider her ways, and be wise:
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Provideth her meat in the summer,
and gathereth her food in the harvest. (Proverbs 6:6-8)
Another Proverb (chapter 30, verses 24 and 25) says…
There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
Can you guess what the first little “exceeding wise” thing is? 😉
Yep! The ants.
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer….
