Jesus loves everybody. He loves young boys and girls. He loves old men and women. He loves mommies and daddies — and everybody!

Do you love Jesus?

A happy mission

Did you know that one time a bunch of mommies thought it would be wonderful to bring their children to Jesus? They just wanted Jesus to bless their children. They wanted Him to ask God to help them grow up to be more and more like Him. They wanted Him to ask God to help them be good workers for Him.

Would you like Jesus to bless you? I would!

A sad surprise

Well, the mommies went on their way with their precious children. But when they got to the place where Jesus was, they had a sad surprise.

Jesus’ helpers met the mommies first, and do you know what the helpers said? They said, “Jesus is very busy with very important work. Jesus does not have time for children. You will just have to go back home.”

Oh, how sad the mommies and the children must have felt! It makes me want to cry just to think of it!

They loved Jesus and only wanted to see Him so badly!

Let them come!

But, wait! Jesus was not going to have anybody telling anyone else that they were not allowed to see Him! No way! Especially not children!

And Jesus said some very special words that we big people do well to remember:

But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. (Mark 10:14)

Jesus said “Suffer” — that means “let” — “the little children to come unto me.” “Let them come!” He said. “Don’t keep them away!”

He said, My Kingdom, Heaven, is made up of people just like these young ones. I love children!

And Jesus called the children to Himself.

I can almost hear Him now, calling you. “Come to Me, child. I love you! Tell Me what makes you happy. Tell Me what makes you sad. Let Me help you to be more like Me. Let Me help you to share my love with others. Will you? I really, really love you!”

You are special. And you are special to Jesus. Remember that, okay?

If you have not already, be sure to look at the top of this page for a coloring page for you to print out and color. It shows Jesus with some children and a mommy and a grandpa. I hope you like it!

It's okay to be 1st! Or 549th, for that matter... I'm eager to hear from you!
