Life does not always give us the expected event at the expected time.
Sometimes winter comes early and catches us off-guard.
We are still dressed for fall–almost prepared, but not.

Sometimes "winter" comes before we expect it.
In this odd scene, note the one tree that always stands ready, whatever the season:
the evergreen.
Its roots hold firm.
Its trunk stands tall.
Its boughs wave true.
May we be like the ever-ready evergreen, “rooted and built up in [Jesus], and stablished in the faith,…abounding therein with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6)
