Life, opportunity, and Vacation Bible School

Just like beautiful blooms come and go, so does opportunity. Be aware at Vacation Bible School!

It’s time for Five Minute Friday! Today’s topic is “Opportunity”.

Ready? Go:

Opportunity is something I have been thinking a lot about lately. Have you ever noticed that “success” at Vacation Bible School–and at life, for that matter–is largely about being open and available as opportunity arises?

We can arm ourselves with prayer. We can study. We can walk with the Lord in all of our daily life. We can choose to follow Him.

What we cannot do is choose for anyone else. Not our spouse, not our children, not the children who come to our Vacation Bible School–nobody. We can only be prepared and available when opportunity arises.

Vacation Bible School is all about setting up an awesome place for opportunity to flourish. The focus is Jesus. The textbook is the Bible. The example is us.

But without one key ingredient, our efforts will fail. We need the Holy Spirit. He prepares the hearts of the children. He opens doors in their hearts, be that during Vacation Bible School, or at some other point in the child’s life. That is the opportunity.

Stop.

~That’s five minutes. I would have said so much more! When the opportunity shows itself, what next? How do we even recognize the opportunity? Give us your input in the comments.

  1. “Available” such a good reminder. No one can make the decision for us when opportunity comes. Thank you for the reminder that I need to be available and open in this season of opportunity and not let fear drive.
    Blessings, Cole

    • You are certainly welcome. Fear is a good thing to recognize. It can really make us jump ahead (or fall behind!) God and His perfect plan, can’t it?

Thanks for coming by. You are welcome any time!

      Blessings to you, too.
      ~Sheila 🙂

It's okay to be 1st! Or 549th, for that matter... I'm eager to hear from you!
