VBS from a child’s view #5

Some children will attend Vacation Bible School year after year.  Others may only attend once–but that once can make an impact that lasts, one step in a child’s journey towards heaven.  Today’s interview is an online chat with a Christian youth in her teenage years.  I will call her Abigail.  (Her comments are in italics; mine are not.)

How old are you?

What is your favorite way to learn about Jesus?

Nice question. 🙂  Probably through testimonies.

Now that’s an answer I have not heard yet! 🙂

Have you been to Vacation Bible School before?

Yes just once.

What did you like best about it?

The neat way my teacher asked questions about God.

What do you think could be done differently to help children grow closer to Jesus (in VBS)?

Well nothing really, I thought it was great. 🙂

Can you think of a verse you learned at VBS?  Which one?

Um, no sorry 🙁

That’s okay. 🙂 [Note: It has been about four years since Abigail attended VBS.]

Can you think of a Sabbath School or VBS teacher you really liked?  What made you enjoy him/her?

Well I really liked Julie Mann* (she was my teacher).  One thing that made me like her was that she was fun, really good with us kids, and knew the Bible really well.

What do you think God is like?

God is a wonderful, awesome, and all-knowing God.

How do you know? 🙂

Well, God is wonderful because he gave me an awesome family and friends, and awesome because I have seen him work miracles in people’s lives, and all-knowing because he always knows what is best for me. 🙂

What is your favorite Bible verse?

Philippians 4:8

Nice 🙂

Who is your favorite Bible person?

Probably Paul 🙂

Paul is very inspirational!

Yes he is 🙂

What is your favorite craft you have ever done? (Any time—not just at VBS)

Making a wooden spoon.

Neat! Did you carve it?

Yes. With the help of someone, of course.

How long did that take?

About three days.

Wow! That is something I have never tried! 🙂

Would you like to help out with VBS?  Why or why not?

Yes I would. Because it would be lots of fun 🙂

What job do you think you would enjoy?

 Just being a general helper.

General helpers are very important! :).

That’s the end of my interview…

Well that was alot of fun thanks for letting me do it :).

Thank you, too! :).

I appreciate your time and your thoughtful answers.  God bless you and your family, Abigail. :).

You too :).
